Sigma Stroke Drill Series - Breaststroke

Sigma Swimming
Happy Monday Swim Team and Adult Fitness Swimmers,

Here we go in our series on the importance of always chasing better technique. We're going to change things up and go OUT OF the standard IM order (Fly, Back, Breast, and Free). Instead, we're going to start with the easiest stroke to learn BUT the most difficult to master: Breaststroke.

Fact of the week: Pull, kick, glide. Sounds simple, and it is, at first. However, to swim efficient and FAST breaststroke takes patience, practice, and an out-of-ordinary focus on technique details. The breaststroke pull has 4 general parts (outsweep, catch, insweep, recovery). The breaststroke kick has 3 general parts (upkick, ankle/foot flex, back/downkick). And for a swimmer to maximize his/her glide, the TIMING of the pull and kick must be precise.

How does my swimmer move up? Our group promotion standards are your guide to growing and graduating! Promotion times can be achieved in practice or swim meets. We prefer to see them happen at a swim meet!

See you at the pool!
